What does a colorist do?

The main responsibilities of the comic colorist are: to help facilitate the reading of the comic, to help separate the story and the main characters and lead the eye of the reader. The colorist should use color to create a climate or atmosphere, to help with the history and to imbue the reader with sensation, even if subjectively, in a way that the penciler can΄t.  Color is very important in helping tell the story and make the experience of reading a story more magical.
Rod REIS
I have been a comic colorist since the late 90's, when I began working with Trama Blue Publishing coloring “Fighter”, “Mortal Combat”, and “Holy Avenger”. My first jobs out of Brazil were “RazorJack” and “Starship Troopers”, both with the help of my friend Sam Hart. Then I went onto work on the magazine “Dungeons and Dragons: Legend of Huma” for  Devils Due Publishing, which was my first work for the U.S. comic-book industry.  My first job for DC Comics was “Superman” drawn by Ed Benes and from there I went on to color “Supergirl” and “Teen Titans” where I am the regular monthly colorist.  I am a penciller and artist as well, here you can see samples of my original art and  various art prints which highlight my work with some of the top artists in the industry, such as Ed Benes, Ariel Olivetti, Ivan Reis, Ale Garza, Eddy Barrows and many others!
